Japanese craftsmanship…
November 8th, 2007We’ve been pondering whether to post this or not but decided it’s too damn cool not to.
We always harp on about quality, craftsmanship and doing things that actually means something to someone. So when we find a company like Balmuda out of Japan, it gives us that little tingle because it’s a little bit of ‘old school’ in an age of mass plastic fantastic.

Forget mass production and cheap, badly made accessories for your Macbook, Balmuda hand machine each and every part to create accessories that might actually be nicer than the products they support. Not only that, they make a hell of a lot of sense!
Take for example the X-Base (above and below). Not only does it get the laptop up and prevent your neck from getting sore, but it also is a heat sink, helping prevent your MacBook from cooking, like they all seem too. The ‘Floater’ (bottom) is another nice accessory, firmly holding and storing your MacBook, either while it’s in use or when you’re not using it.
The nicest part of the Balmuda products, is that you won’t need to throw them out after a year of use, like so much of the other cheap rubbish around, as it’s designed and built every bit as well, if not better, than Apple’s own products.

Not cheap but if you understand what’s behind them, you probably will think it’s a price worth paying.
