Public Farm One, an installation designed by architects [Work Architecture Company], has been unveiled in New York.
With food becoming an issue and much land around the world being lost to urban sprawl, there is an ever increasing need to find new ways to farm and limit the dependence on transport to markets; as well as solving the debatable quality of supposed fresh produce urban dwellers find themselves dealing with in supermarket chains. The PF1is a radical and very smart solution, indicating a fresh look and innovative thoughts on how to manipulate existing urban spaces and double use them for agriculture.
The diatribe on the Work AC site is too, well, academic to reproduce here, but you can rad more about the project…

Some may be wondering where all the new Lab-Gear kit might be? Well, we are busy planning and this week we start in earest and are aiming to have kit ready for the shelves come Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.
The line up is following a philosophy we have embraced as we watch the world around us and as Gordon Ramsey says, keep it simple so you can taste the flavours. Expect to see some really solid, simple and quality kit that you can use for all sorts of things; in many ways, it’s going back to the very roots of what got Lab-Gear going in the first place. Also expect to see something you did not at all expect to see…..
It’s been a long time but Lab-Gear is getting back involved with enduro events.
The 2009 ‘Vestal Virgin Classic’ sees Lab-Gear’s first involvement with mountain bike enduro events for many years. While Lab-Gear does not have a hard core mountain bike specific focus in it’s kit any more, it still has strong ties to the sport where it started and through GTO, still caters to sectors of it. The decision to get back into promoting enduro events stems to its love with all things dirty, especially mountain bikes.
“The secret lives of invisible magnetic fields are revealed as chaotic ever-changing geometries . All action takes place around NASA’s Space Sciences Laboratories, UC Berkeley, to recordings of space scientists describing their discoveries . Actual VLF audio recordings control the evolution of the fields as they delve into our inaudible surroundings, revealing recurrent ‘whistlers’ produced by fleeting electrons . Are we observing a series of scientific experiments, the universe in flux, or a documentary of a fictional world?“
This sort of really forward thinking, truly does make science fun to the layman. Gripping stuff.
There are many creative director types out there than just suck. Really, they do. No vision, no imagination, no nothing but tired old rehashes or copying from somewhere else. This is evidenced by the crap commercials on TV.
But, there are some really good ones too and these ads for Budlight (shiver), aired during ‘08 Superbowl made us laugh…
Happy to say that the last of the GTO kit went out today and we hear that people are already liking the Heritage X Jersey. We can start working on getting the next order period rolling. Wondering what that is? Then check here.
The Shatner version of ‘Common People’ always had an edge to it that was great…. just something about ‘ol Will Shatner. This mixup of the song with the old animated Star Trek, pure gold!
The point of the BSI blog is to show you things that really only interest or inspire us, hence periods of radio silence where nothing we see really floats out boat.
Eco Zoo, by McCaan Erickson - Japan, caught our eye this week while doing the rounds. A superb use of online interactivity and a fantastic method of presentation.
