The idea has been tried many a times, a web based comic that’s free to read. Some have been fanciful Flash based numbers, others semi interactive. It seems though that many after some time run out of puff, we guess because the real world incentive of needing to account for one’s time doesn’t happen when it’s free or being an ‘on the side thing’, never really gains enough momentum to make switching it to a commercial enterprise a reality. Then there is the whole hesitance by the consuming public to part with cash for online content.
FreakAngles, is a UK produced online comic, presented in a trad page format with no bells and whistles. While it seems the episodes are short, it might be just enough to keep the interest growing while not being a huge on going task for those producing it.
Worth checking out as it’s quite nice to look at.

“Censorship is Weak as F##k” is a skateboard art exhibition featuring the work of world renowned artists Marc McKee and Sean Cliver. The art show was inspired by the documentary feature film “The Man Who Souled the World”, a portrait of skateboarding¹s most hated and loved character, Steve Rocco.
The art show will feature over 50 rare pieces of valuable skate art and tour with Marc McKee and Sean Cliver across Australia from February 21 to March 9 2008. The Australian leg of the tour follows successful exhibitions in the USA, Canada, Europe and Japan.

The success of a product can be measured by how cool it becomes. The cooler it becomes, the more people must have it and the more people that have it, the less col it becomes… until something comes along to make your’s that little bit cooler than everyone else’s.
Part with your cash to attain some of Apple’s coolness and then part with more to make sure that you are cooler then the person next to you.
What a wonderful web of one upsmanship (is that a word?) is being woven in the world of consumer products.
Does that come with flames?

Good design is something that is great. It does not have to be expensive but it should make your life better.
Ikea is sort of like that. Many designers look down their nose at Ikea but the truth is it is a design success. Their ability to offer (mostly) good (sometimes original) design at a sane price, designed well enough so that Joe. Q. Average can take it home and put it together, is truly remarkable.
So when something comes along and improves on what is already so well thought out, is a wonderful thing indeed.

So it’s a bit slow and everyone’s a bit busy but this is a bit of fun worth posting, and hey, it IS media design!
As part of its Flugtag event, you know, where people build the most insane ‘aircraft’ and then throw themselves off a ramp in vein hope that they will fly a long way, Red Bull has made this pretty cleaver online version.
Build the absurd aircraft of your dreams, paint it up and then fly it in a physics based simulator. All without making a total fool of yourself in public.
If you get the sack, don’t blame us.

Singlespeed and ‘fixie’ bikes are becoming all the rage in cities all around the world. Minimal, no fuss and a style and heritage all their own, they are hitting the mark in the trend circles. So it’s natural that brands and models start popping up to cater to the growing thirst.
Fixie Inc. out of Germany hit the note with several models. As would be expected from German’s, the attention to detailing is exact and wonderful.

As we’ve mentioned here previously, NewWebPick publishes a great and rather worthwhile electronic magazine.
Today they just released issue 14, which is well worth looking into, if you have not already. And for USD$1.95, it’s not really even worth debating giving it a go (though they do release a free ‘lite’ version, if that’s too much cash for you).
