Funky…

December 11th, 2007

Some might say that’s it’s odd to post other studio’s work on our site, but like we say, the BSI site is about more than tooting out own horn, it’s about inspiration and things that we think are really very cool.

Funky Forest is one such thing.

Theodore Watson says about this project:

“Working together with the amazing Emily Gobeille, we created the interactive installation, ‘Funky Forest’ which premiered at the 2007 Cinekid festival in the Netherlands. ‘Funky Forest’ is an interactive ecosystem where children create trees with their body and then divert the water flowing from the waterfall to the trees to keep them alive. The health of the trees contributes to the overall health of the forest and the types of creatures that inhabit it. Made with openFrameworks.”

You can see more here but this is a very, very cool use of technology. It’s not often that you see such lateral thinking when it comes to interactive media, and while this is for a festival (hence very conceptual), one can see how this sort of thinking in terms of interactive media could be applied to other scenarios.
