Feit
August 16th, 2007
Who: Feit ( pronounced: ‘Fight’ ) Shoes
What: An Australian designed/owned ‘premium’ sneaker brand.
Why: Because hand picked materials in shoes made to exacting specifications is nice in this day of bland Athlete’s Foot and Footlocker selections.
Where: We found the Feit shop tucked away in a cool and minimal sub basement shop in East Sydney (cnr. Burton and Riley Sts).
G’s Opinion: I am not really into the whole designer sneaker thang, at the same time though I like shoes that I can wear to a business meeting as much as I can hanging out (OK I am not a patent leather business shoe guy - woohoo!). After I stumbled on the Feit store I was really surprised to find a range of shoes that covered my pretty basic (yet difficult) needs in a single pair of shoes. From full leather to leather/canvas mixes, high top and low top, Feit shoes are neat, clean and very well made.
I bought a pair of leather/canvas low cuts that I have been wearing almost constantly for months now. The clean cut has been a god send when it comes to getting dressed, as they seem to go with everything, casual and not so. The build quality is top notch (read the stitching is showing no signs of unraveling) and the materials show that they have been selected carefully, as they are showing only small signs of wear (once I clean them!). The Vibram sole is a bonus and keeps my feet comfy all day.
For the $220 I paid for them, a very reasonable price considering they are a relatively low volume premium label, is a more than good price, especially after I walked into Footlocker recently to be confronted with cookie cutter shoes with much higher price tags and a whole lot less leather or quality.
Go find a pair and make yourself feel good
