Updates

July 21st, 2008

We know a bunch of people have been waiting for the GTO Bespoke ‘Traffic’ shorts to be offered and to be honest we thought we’d have them ready to go about a month ago. We have been really swamped with a bunch of things though, including continued research and development for the new Lab-Gear line, so have held back from letting them out the door for a while longer.

For those that know us, they’ll know that these days we don’t rush things out the door for the sake of it, which is why we are taking our sweet time with all the new kit. When it finally comes, and this includes GTO as well, it will be well worth it. Promise.

The new home!

July 7th, 2008

If you’ve come here from the old Bomb Squad Industries’ site, hello. If you haven’t, hello still.

Why the move? We were happy dropping all that inspired us design and life wise over at the BSI site, but the other day we decided to just ‘bring it all home’ and have what inspires us, posted here at Lab-Gear, an endevour that has inspired (and tested) us for over eight years now.

If you’ve followed us here from Bomb Squad Industries.com, we hope you keep on enjoying what we drop here. If you’re new to our blogging, we hope you find something here that inspires you as well.

Cheers,

The Lab-Gear crew.

Planning

June 23rd, 2008

Some may be wondering where all the new Lab-Gear kit might be? Well, we are busy planning and this week we start in earest and are aiming to have kit ready for the shelves come Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

The line up is following a philosophy we have embraced as we watch the world around us and as Gordon Ramsey says, keep it simple so you can taste the flavours. Expect to see some really solid, simple and quality kit that you can use for all sorts of things; in many ways, it’s going back to the very roots of what got Lab-Gear going in the first place. Also expect to see something you did not at all expect to see….. ;-)

Back in enduro’s

June 23rd, 2008

It’s been a long time but Lab-Gear is getting back involved with enduro events.

The 2009 ‘Vestal Virgin Classic’ sees Lab-Gear’s first involvement with mountain bike enduro events for many years. While Lab-Gear does not have a hard core mountain bike specific focus in it’s kit any more, it still has strong ties to the sport where it started and through GTO, still caters to sectors of it. The decision to get back into promoting enduro events stems to its love with all things dirty, especially mountain bikes.

Check out details on the 2009 Vestal Virgin Classic here.

Monday, 16th July - GTO

June 16th, 2008

Happy to say that the last of the GTO kit went out today and we hear that people are already liking the Heritage X Jersey. We can start working on getting the next order period rolling. Wondering what that is? Then check here.

Relaunch

May 21st, 2008

Welcome to Lab-Gear 2008. It took a little longer to get back online this as there was some significant work behind the scenes to get the new cart system running. We think the wait was worth it though, our friends at CWS have done a brilliant job providing what is the fastest and friendliest cart system we have ever used.

The relaunch also signifies the return of Lab-Gear back to Australian shores. Scott of Lab-Gear UK, who’s been running things for the past few years, is still on board as the man and contact point for the UK and EU, but the main distribution point will once again be in Australia. Doing this allows us to produce new designs and restock faster than if we had to ship it over to the UK and distribute from Manchester, as well as being more flexible in the way we run things; and that to us is very important.

Over the next 3-4 months we will be working on a new and comprehensive line of kit, as well as continuing to offer GTO kit, as it comes, to our mailing list subscribers.

We at Lab-Gear are all excited about what this year has in store, we hope that our loyal customers out there will be too.

Cheers,

The Lab-Gear crew.

Yawwwwn!

May 1st, 2008

It’s not through any act of extreme laziness, or even lack of interest that we have not posted for a little while. The truth is there has not been much that has captured our interest or garnered our attention even.

Bit boring really……..

12 Hours …OF… Not So Much Darkness

March 17th, 2008

Well, the crew from the ‘…OF…’ MTB event series ran their first event of 2008 and all involved are happy to say that the day could not have run more smoothly…. Read the rest of this entry »

…OF… MTB Event: 9th Feb.

February 7th, 2008

Well here it it has happened again!Three days out from our first event of 08 and it has not stopped raining on the track, nor does it seem it will with rain and storms forecast right up until Sunday and maybe beyond.

Now while there is nothing at all wrong with riding in the wet, raining or not, some might know all too well that Killi is renowned for many things, two of which are a fire road that is not that great in dry weather, un-negotiable in the wet, and sandy + clay based conditions, meaning it will be a bog fest which will eat your drive train on the first lap. As the Newcastle area has received somewhat more rain than Sydney, we know that the track conditions will be swampy and with more rain to come over the next few days, probably totally rubbish.

As such, HMBA and ourselves have had several discussions about what the best option might be for riders, ourselves and bikes/cars and have made the unfortunate decision that we will have to postpone the even until: Saturday the 15th of March (which does not seem to conflict with any other event).

Whilst this is a total drag for everyone, we are offering several options to all who have entered to help ease the disappointment:

1. If you can make the new date, see you there and we will discount your team entry into the ‘12 Hours …OF… Darkness’ by 10%. Do nothing more.

2. If you can’t, you can carry over your entry into the ‘12 Hours …OF… Darkness’, just let us know.

3. If you’re just not interested, we’ll refund your money in full, within two weeks after the rescheduled event as per our terms and conditions. Again, let us know.

We are really sorry about having to do this so close into the event but the mighty heavens it seems stop for no one… not that there is anything wrong at all with this cool weather and wetness.

We all hope to see you at the new date or at the ‘12 Hours …OF… Darkness’.

Best regards,

BSI and HMBA.

PS: Any questions email us on event and if you know people that wanted to come but couldn’t, tell them they now can!

Some Pics

For those that had visited the previous BSI site for 5D Events and now looked at the new one, you might have noticed that all the images had vanished.

We’re happy to say that they are back, after we remembered that they had not been updated with the new format! For those that are new and are looking for info on the 2008 5D MTB Race Series, the images should give you a pretty good feel for the vibe we have developed over the years.

Check it out here.
