: Sydney motorist madness

There’s always at one thing tht amazes me on the streets these days every time I head out but today took the cake.

Riding around Centennial Park for a good wind down from the day, I saw what had to be the damndest thing in the 25 odd years I’ve been riding around there.

For those that don’t know the park has a semi closed to traffic, one way road that is about 4km around. It’s the regular training spot for cyclists, easy and safe ride for recreational riders and skaters and a place little ones learn how to ride. In the last few years it seems to have become a bit of a short cut for twats in cars who want to cut a few minutes out of their commute home. Today though really left me speechless.

Coming the wrong way down the road, a woman casually drove against traffic, swerving to miss oncoming traffic (other cars and cyclists) while casually talking on the phone. Dead set. Despite warnings from everyone, she kept on going, either oblivious to what she was doing (hard to believe) or totally as ease with her actions. The fact that I did not see her again only makes me think she was driving against the one way to get somewhere quickly.

What’s going on in this place???
