Smart design, that’s something to admire and the idea of keeping things simple and flexible is awful attractive at times.

Aheadset aka Cane Creek has done exactly that, applied some smart thinking and simplified what has become a standard in the bike world. using their words:

“The all new Aheadset® is more than just a collection of 6 individual headset models; it’s a system. The Aheadset® system intelligently maximizes the interchangeability of parts and minimizes the number of unique parts. With just 18 unique parts 11 different headset configurations can be assembled, including a ZeroStack™ for threaded or threadless 1″ or 1-1/8″.”

Now the ONLY downside to this sort of design rationalisation is that, like the Model T, you can every colour as long as it’s black. Not so hot if you’re into the ‘pornification’ of your ride.
