: The bun fight escalates

If you did not know (or care?), Apple and Adobe have entered into a shit slinging match after Jobs announced that he, in a super condensed version, thinks Adobe and its Flash content platform blow chunks. Jobs is pushing for HTML5 to take back the web and make everything open in terms of development. Adobe is saying their Flash platform is open and Jobs is being a knob.

We use Flash around here, when there is absolutely no other way to achieve something. Looking through HTML5 + Ajax the other week, I can see no other way to replace Flash for now to do what we need. This is a shame because Flash DOES blow chunks, big ones too. It’s a cow to use, labour intensive and finicky. I hate it but I use it and it does work… mostly. I also would like nothing more than to find a system that does the same thing, is simpler and will work everywhere without the need for a browser plugin. If you have been living in a cave, Flash also does not work on the iPhone or iPad, rendering may sites useless, including some key sections of the Lab-Gear site.
